Going to Cambodia as a 17 year old was the stupidest thing I’ve ever done. Fortunately it didn’t end badly and was probably a huge contributor to me “settling down” at the age of 21. I crammed all kinds of teenage angst into a three or four year time frame culminating with this trip.
So for a really long time I didn’t look at these. They conjured up all kinds of unpleasant memories.
However, 15 years has erased most of it so I bought a film scanner and had plans to scan the hundreds of photos I took. Only I forgot that when we worked with film you didn’t take that many pictures so there are actually just a few rolls. Ah well.
These images are of Cambodia’s Angkor Wat, which is the largest religious complex in the world. I believe these were taken at Ta Prohm. We were able to climb on the structures and go anywhere – truly a hands on experience. I was looking at some recent images and it looks like they’ve added some ropes since then, which isn’t surprising but probably detracts from some of the magic.
More to come…
