Will and Sarah chose Treman State Park, which is one of three state parks in the area.

This is the warm up waterfall, right next to the parking lot.

Jenna is 11 months old (maybe 12 by now?) and was a joy to work with. She thought I was reasonably funny, which is a plus, and couldn’t yet walk (aka run away).

People often ask how long a photo session takes and my answer is usually that the kids let us know when they’re done. Jenna was a trooper and lasted the better part of an hour.

We hiked down the path a little ways and then off the path to this spot where there was a rock jutting out into the stream with the bridge in the back ground. Some of these bridges and rocks washed out in a storm last year but have since been repaired. Taughannock state park had dried up because of the drought but Treman still had plenty of water.

Will works in IT at a Cornell University library and Sarah is working on her PhD in economics. Jenna is clearly the love of their lives.

Jenna did an incredible job, then she was done.

But even in her done-ness she stole the show.

Taughannock Falls State Park (pronounced Tah-gan-uck) is one of our family’s personal favorites for the very flat trail along the creek and spectacular waterfall at the end.  We didn’t do the whole trail, but Ashleigh and Ray proved to be quite adventurous.

This is the overlook above the falls.

Baby Ray was all smiles – he especially loved the oinky pig.

This spot is early on the trail and required some climbing over rocks meant to keep people like us from going down there. It was especially challenging pregnant (me, not Ashleigh :).

They were even willing to get their feet wet.

Then Ray decided he wasn’t quite so sure about the oinky pig any more and it might just about be nap time…

But not before we snuck in some mommy and daddy love.

Husna is a very close friend of mine from college and we weren’t sure we’d end up connecting for Sabrina’s newborn session. She lives in Syracuse, I live in Rochester but was in Ithaca, and so she made the trek out to Mia’s Lakehouse for the newborn session.

I was so thankful because it would have been sad to miss!

We also lucked out with the weather. It was overcast and a balmy 90 degrees – perfect for outdoor newborn portraits!

It was also my first time meeting Sabrina, which was a joy. She slept through the entire session which involved a lot of being moved around and being jostled and decorated with bows. Husna has been blessed with all boys up until now, and she said she’s been really enjoying dressing her. She had quite a lot of fun picking out bows.

Even if you don’t feel like you’re beautiful after giving birth, it’s always worth taking some mom and baby images. They tend to be moms’ favorites.

There’s also something super sweet about the close up, peach fuzz and baby features images.

This makes me think about the asleep rule – Grayson was stunning awake!

Dorilyn and Joshua carried this trunk outside for this shot. Grayson slept right through the whole thing – even the entourage of mosquitoes that wanted to eat us all!

Dorilyn wasn’t too keen on photos of herself, but she was adamant about photos of Joshua (which I heard are going on the birth announcements). I always tell my husband he looks good with a baby on him too.

I also learned that while this session was in Ithaca, Dorilyn actually grew up two miles from my house! Small world.
