I can’t wait for it to come back!! Rebecca and her family and I met at Tinker Nature Park in Henrietta for a beautiful summer session. Tinker Nature Park Family Photography.

Her kids were such a joy to be around. They really enjoyed exploring the park, which is one of the really wonderful things about on location photography. It’s okay for kids to be kids and run around and explore.

Tinker Nature Park has some older buildings that serve as rustic backdrops. There’s quite a lot of variety in a small amount of space which is what we look for in a great location. To learn more about how to choose a great location for your photo session, click here.

What a beautiful happy family! I love their spring color scheme. There are so many easy ways to dress for a photo session. Click here to learn more about what to wear.

At the end of (almost) every session, rainbow lollipops are to be had. This can also sometimes make for a great photo opp.

So sweet! I bet she doesn’t look like a baby anymore.

I love parent/child images so much. The connection is just so sweet.

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful family with me!!

Tinker Nature Park Family Portraits, Rochester, NY ~ Molly & Mike https://debralwallace.com/tinker-nature-park-family-portraits-rochester-ny/ Mon, 15 Aug 2016 02:46:58 +0000 http://debralwallace.com/?p=3523 Molly and Mike drove all the way from Massachusetts for their Tinker Nature Park family portraits.  They may have also had some other commitments in town. 🙂

Molly and I first met at a wedding of a mutual friend when she was first thinking about starting a family, and here they are, 11 years later.

Their family loves nature and veers away from screens, so they chose Tinker Nature Park for their portraits.

The oldest two were agreeable to being photographed, but the youngest wanted absolutely nothing to do with it.

And just in case I was tempted to feel like a child-photography rock star, he was unimpressed with all my antics and the only thing that calmed him down was my wireless trigger. There’s a first time for everything. Good thing I had two!

These two never missed an opportunity to snuggle.

And there was just something about that wireless trigger…

It took some finessing, but there is an image in here with all three of them looking happy at the same time.

And Mike talked Molly into a family photo at the end (still with the trigger!).

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful family with me!

Lisa and Brad ~ Henrietta, NY Candid Family Portrait Photography https://debralwallace.com/lisa-and-brad-henrietta-ny-candid-family-portrait-photography/ Thu, 23 Jan 2014 02:01:00 +0000 http://debralwallace.com/lisa-and-brad-henrietta-ny-candid-family-portrait-photography/ I don’t know if Lisa had a gender preference as she was awaiting the birth of her children, but I know I totally did.  I definitely wanted girls – and more than one.  And each time I got a boy I was tempted to feel disappointed.  But, I learned that a group of wrestling boys have a simple magic of their own.

For example, boys need to wrestle like they need food or water.  I told them to lay down on the blanket and this was what happened.

But of course we didn’t forget grandma!

Jumping doesn’t fit every family’s personality, but with a house full of boys it often does.

Fall Family Portrait Photography Rochester NY ~ Noah & Husna https://debralwallace.com/fall-family-portrait-photography-rochester-ny-noah-husna/ Tue, 15 Oct 2013 17:05:00 +0000 http://debralwallace.com/fall-family-portrait-photography-rochester-ny-noah-husna/ It’s challenging to fit all of your belongings into two square feet of college dorm bedroom space, but somehow we managed to make it work.  I was scared, but unwilling to admit it, and Husna was one of the first friendly faces I encountered my freshman year at the University of Rochester.  She also happened to be my resident advisor.

I was raised by two dietitians who taught me that eating meals is a social thing not to be done alone and it proved one of the hardest things about college.  One night I invited Husna to eat with me, she agreed, and here we are more than 10 years and quite a lot of history later.  It’s been a wild ride and I’m super thankful to have her in my life!

Zach is one of those unusual kids that you just say “smile” and he gives this huge genuine smile.  He should be a model!

Simon was being incentivized by some Dove Chocolate.   🙂

This was right before Noah said, “Husna and I have never been within 3 feet of each other.”  Seriously, I’m still laughing.

Husna is one of those incredible women who’s had 5 different careers.  Currently she’s pursuing two of them, one is called Primal Belle which is kettlebell fitness training.  If you’re looking to get in shape quickly and in the comfort of your own home, check it out at PrimalBelle.com.

Frequent Flyers ~ Abbie and Averie https://debralwallace.com/frequent-flyers-abbie-and-averie/ Sun, 13 Oct 2013 19:04:00 +0000 http://debralwallace.com/frequent-flyers-abbie-and-averie/ They were laughing and playing and running around and hiding.  The energy was palpable.  Even the bribe of chocolate didn’t go too far, but the facial expressions were outstanding anyway.  There may have been some concern on the parental end that we wouldn’t end up with any wall-worthy portraits, but the awesome thing about photography is that you only need about 1/125th of a second or so.  🙂

It’s cheesy but true – one of the greatest joys of my professional photographic life is families that come back
every year.  I am so honored to watch these beautiful girls grow up.

And now for a brief nostalgia inspired interlude.  Digging up these favorites made me sad I won’t see them again for a while!

Kim was one of my very first clients and this is when she was pregnant with Abbie.  Isn’t she stunning?  This is one of my all time favorite maternity photos.

And of course, the welcome baby Abbie picture.  Can you believe how big she is now???  Does it make me old if I say it goes by so fast?  It really honestly does!

Even bigger…

Even bigger.

We did inside sessions for a few years, but then Kim went for the mini sessions and I think is now a mini session convert.  They’re over for this year, but something to keep in mind for next!

Fall Mini Sessions Sneak Peak ~ Rochester, NY Family Photography https://debralwallace.com/fall-mini-sessions-sneak-peak-rochester-ny-family-photography/ Mon, 23 Sep 2013 03:39:00 +0000 http://debralwallace.com/fall-mini-sessions-sneak-peak-rochester-ny-family-photography/ Overheard in Tinker Park this afternoon, “Husna and I have never been within three feet of each other.”  I’m still giggling.

I guess that’s what I get when I overuse the line, “pretend like you love each other.”  I bet Noah banters with waitresses too.

You may remember Simon and Zach from this post.  I can’t believe Simon is already 2!!

It is not too late to sign up for fall mini sessions.  If you’re looking for fall holiday photos, this is a great opportunity.  Click here for more information or to sign up!

You may remember this gorgeous family from these photos.  I first met Kim, Averie and Adonis when Kim was pregnant with Abbie.  Time flies!  Their photos also seem to frequent the website, including the home page, because they are so ridiculously cute!

I have a major weakness for sibling photos.  Aren’t they sweet?

I said, “Lay down next to each other” and this was the interpretation.  How awesome is that?  They were encouraged not to be rowdy, but I love their energy – especially having more than a handful of my own boys at home.  They were professional pictures takers – they kept each other smiling huge, genuine smiles.

The new best jumping picture of all time! I could photograph these guys all day.

And last but not least, this beautiful family you may remember from this post.  I’ve also had the incredible privilege of seeing Serena and her family every year for a few years.  Alethea definitely gets a color coordination award in the traditional category.   I especially love the dress.  My daughter doesn’t wear dresses like this for long… ah well.  I’ll live vicariously.

It was great to see you all!  Complete proofs are coming soon. 🙂

Henrietta, NY Candid Child Photography ~ Solomon https://debralwallace.com/henrietta-ny-candid-child-photography-solomon/ Sun, 14 Oct 2012 02:25:00 +0000 http://debralwallace.com/henrietta-ny-candid-child-photography-solomon/ Two year olds are wonderfully unpredictable so his mom and I weren’t sure how this session would go.  He was lovely!  I don’t think he stopped smiling the entire time.  Even when he was frustrated he was smiling.  Happy birthday Solomon – you are one handsome little guy!
