You may remember Erin and Colin from their son’s senior portraits in the fall. He’s been accepted to Purdue (his dad’s alma matter) and will be heading out shortly to study business.
In June they threw a graduation party and Erin realized it would be a great time for extended family portraits. Initially it seemed overwhelming to coordinate clothing but after a quick look at this Pinterest Board with some really easy color schemes for large groups, it seemed manageable and they did a fantastic job.
If you’re squeezing in large family portraits around an event, one option is to have everyone wear a certain color of clothing for the photos and then change into whatever they want to for the party. This gives people more creative license with their party clothes, but still ensures that the family portraits look cohesive.
While you’re dressed to coordinate, it’s also a great time for individual family portraits. Erin’s parents were then able to order one image of each smaller family which will coordinate nicely on a wall since everyone is already matching.
To make things easier we held the portrait session in their back yard, which was arguably more picturesque than Highland Park. Connor had apparently done some landscaping in exchange for a college education. Not a bad trade.
Erin’s parents recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. They were so sweet together.
