It’s been a rough fall
\nThe order was tall
\nTo complete all the tasks we acquired<\/p>\n
Jason’s overload meant
\nThat much more time was spent
\nAt the college than we were accustomed<\/p>\n
Research at the lab
\nAnd two students he had
\nMeant free time was further encumbered<\/p>\n
At the end of month nine
\nNumber seven did find
\nHimself welcomed with anticipation<\/p>\n
But labor, well named,
\nWhen it finally came
\nLeft mom mostly out of commission<\/p>\n
Baby Nathan was good
\nAnd behaved as he should
\nDelighting all those he encountered<\/p>\n
But sleeping positions
\nCould not be transitioned
\nSo mom had a brand new attachment<\/p>\n
Because mom was stressed
\nNumber six thought it best
\nTo be potty trained right then and there<\/p>\n
He asked for the potty
\nAt first he was spotty
\nBut then he was skilled and accomplished<\/p>\n
Number two had a stye
\nOn top of his eye
\nAnd surgery was recommended<\/p>\n
Then from his ear
\nRan fluids unclear
\nAnd best friends we made with the doctor<\/p>\n
We expect by age nine
\nA child should find
\nThat with great ease and skill they can read<\/p>\n
Number 3 cannot
\nSo we found ourselves fraught
\nWith many assessments and meetings<\/p>\n
Meanwhile number four
\nWith great ease can explore
\nEvery facet of reading with ease<\/p>\n
Homeschoolers we are
\nCommitted in part
\nBecause we can make adaptations<\/p>\n
But the progress is slow
\nAnd all parents know
\nThat it’s easy to feel unaccomplished<\/p>\n
Debra was happy
\nWhen portraits aplenty
\nWere scheduled with clients she loves<\/p>\n
As their sessions were booked
\nAnd their orders she took
\nShe attained a doctorate in skilled multi-tasking<\/p>\n
Our son at age four
\nCannot pronounce floor
\nSpeech therapy we have requested<\/p>\n
Our schedule so empty
\nAnd free time a plenty
\nMeans speech is a welcome addition<\/p>\n
But we made it through
\nA staycation is due
\nFor such a substantial achievement<\/p>\n
Some may rejoice
\nWith their party of choice
\nBut a date with my pillow I’ve scheduled<\/p>\n
As the year slips away
\nWith conviction I’ll say
