We last met up for Jimmy’s 100 day photos – a significant milestone in Chinese culture. You can view his 100 day photos here.

Jimmy’s grandmother was able to spend several months with him and was headed back to China. For a short time, both sets of grandparents were around to lend a hand.  We set up a studio situation in their home in Pittsford on a gloomy fall day.

It’s such a joy to watch families rejoicing so much over a new addition to the family.

While we were planning a one year photo session (which we did a few weeks later), we went ahead with this one before Jing’s mom left. He wasn’t completely sure what to make of the camera and all the attention.

In home sessions can be a fantastic way to help babies feel more comfortable though, especially when they’re a little skeptical.

I haven’t met a baby yet that doesn’t love being tossed in the air. So sweet!!

Are those not the most delicious cheeks you’ve ever seen?

Jimmy loves cars, books, and smiled most when his mom read him the Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Thank you so much Jing and Rui for sharing Jimmy’s first year with me. It was such a blessing!

Webster NY 9 Month Baby Photography ~ Tracy & Joe https://debralwallace.com/webster-ny-9-month-baby-photography-tracy-joe/ Tue, 07 Mar 2017 03:51:36 +0000 http://debralwallace.com/?p=4821 Webster NY 9 Month Baby Photography ~ Tracy & Joe

Tracy and Joe are flying through their baby bundle. Adam was born yesterday and he’s already nine months old.

The great thing about baby bundles is that you’ll hit some beautiful weather at some point during the year. Adam’s newborn session took place inside because he was born in April.

Here’s a quick flashback.

But then his 6 month session took place on a gorgeous fall day in November at Corbett’s Glen.

For this session, we were back inside at Tracy and Joe’s beautiful home in Webster.  Love his hair!

People ask me all the time if I have a studio and I don’t. I’m not sure I ever want one – Adam was already super comfortable when I arrived because he was home. It’s also fantastic to be able to keep prices lower for clients (no overhead!) and to have an endless selection of backgrounds. I also enjoy the challenge of arriving somewhere and seeing what types of images we can come up with together.

An image Tracy mentioned when we talked was one of Adam’s baby bum before he got too much older and it would be “weird.” Joe wasn’t quite sure what to make of that – I’m pretty sure it’s a mom thing.

Tracy has said that Adam isn’t a super smiley baby, but because he was comfortable he did a fair share of smiling for us.

He was super mobile and crawled at the pace of a run. Getting the sitting images above required some serious cheerios.

This teepee was a Christmas gift from grandma.

If you ever want a great baby-dad image, have the dad throw the baby in the air and stop for a moment just above his nose. The best smiles come out of being thrown in the air by dad.

Thank you so much Tracy and Joe for sharing your beautiful family with me!

Ithaca NY Treman State Park Family Portrait ~ Will and Sarah https://debralwallace.com/ithaca-ny-treman-state-park-family-portrait-will-sarah/ Mon, 05 Sep 2016 02:07:35 +0000 http://debralwallace.com/?p=3603 Will and Sarah are currently living in Ithaca, which is a place where you trip over waterfalls and do not want to learn how to drive a standard.  Roads have 170 degree turns and are pitched at 80 degree angles, with water dripping down mossy rocks in parking lots and roadsides.  In Rochester people have a variety of nice locations to choose from but in Ithaca you could choose pretty much anywhere.

Will and Sarah chose Treman State Park, which is one of three state parks in the area.

This is the warm up waterfall, right next to the parking lot.

Jenna is 11 months old (maybe 12 by now?) and was a joy to work with. She thought I was reasonably funny, which is a plus, and couldn’t yet walk (aka run away).

People often ask how long a photo session takes and my answer is usually that the kids let us know when they’re done. Jenna was a trooper and lasted the better part of an hour.

We hiked down the path a little ways and then off the path to this spot where there was a rock jutting out into the stream with the bridge in the back ground. Some of these bridges and rocks washed out in a storm last year but have since been repaired. Taughannock state park had dried up because of the drought but Treman still had plenty of water.

Will works in IT at a Cornell University library and Sarah is working on her PhD in economics. Jenna is clearly the love of their lives.

Jenna did an incredible job, then she was done.

But even in her done-ness she stole the show.

Thank you so much Will and Sarah for sharing your beautiful family with me!
